News about the 72LZ9700
The Consumer Electronics Show also known as CES was full of interesting surprises, one of the most sensational ones being the annoucement and presentation of the new Worlds Largest LCD HDTV with full LED backlighting by LG. The only company competing with this size is Mitsubishi with it's 75-Inch Laservue HDTV, but it doesn't use LEDs for backlighting.
The 72LZ9700 is unique in many ways, great design, very slim, a new mation controlled remote, but what instantly strikes your eyes. It's big, not really big, actually simply huge. Your 55-Inch HDTV at home looks like a computer monitor compared to it and in an average sized living room it will derfinitely catch attention of your visitors instantly. Now home cinema becomes a little more like going to the movies.
The specifications
According to the unofficial LZ9700 blog the features include a 400Hz refresh rate, 3D technology, 72-Inch screen size, good connectivity and the LG Smart TV feature which allows internet access and let's you use special content and apps. Sounds extremely promising, since LG already proved that they can build amazing LEDs with a great image quality. So, the first impression was simply: Wow!
It will be an active 3D TV, in contrast to e.g. the XVT3D650SV just released by Vizio, meaning that you'll need active shutter 3D glasses to view 3D movies.
Price
No price is know so far, but we expect it to be in the "pretty expensive" to "costs a fortune but is worth every penny" range.
